William M. Luther is a guest lecturer in marketing at Kenan-Flager Business School, UNC, and The Fuqua School of Business, Duke University. He has been a consultant to over 30 companies, both large and small. Some of the major firms were AT&T, IBM, Merrill Lynch, John Deere, Monsanto, Cargill, Minolta, U.S. Department of Agriculture and U.S. Department of Defense.

Luther founded businesses in the advertising, construction and magazine industries. He has been an ad-hoc sales & marketing professor for the University of Wisconsin, William & Mary, University of Notre Dame, and Georgia State University and conducted over 300 public seminars for universities, American Management Association and Frost & Sullivan in the United States, South America and Europe.

He is the author of The Marketing Plan, Third Edition, American Management Association,  2001;  The Marketing Plan; New, Expanded Edition, American Management Association, 1992; The Startup Business Plan, Prentice Hall, 1991; How to Develop a Business Plan in 15 Days, American Management Association, 1987; and The Marketing Plan, American Management Association, 1982. 

Luther was vice president with Grey Advertising, New York City; account supervisor with Marshalk, Atlanta; account executive with Campbell-Mithum, Minneapolis and Los Angeles; and McCann-Erickson, Honolulu and San Francisco.
